How To Operate A Speaker

The speaker should be selected based on the location and sound requirements, combined with the characteristics of the speaker. For example, for outdoor broadcasting that is mainly voice-based, an electric horn speaker can be selected. If higher sound quality is required, an electric speaker box or sound column should be selected. For general indoor broadcasting, a small speaker box made of a single electric paper cone speaker can be selected. For music appreciation or high-quality conference amplification, a speaker box composed of a combination of high and low-frequency speakers should be selected.
When using a speaker, pay attention to the following points:
(1) The power obtained by the speaker should not exceed its rated power, otherwise the voice coil will be burned or the voice coil will be dispersed. The operating voltage of electromagnetic and piezoelectric ceramic speakers should not exceed 30V.
(2) Note that the impedance of the speaker should be matched with the output circuit. For specific methods, please refer to the section on amplifiers.
(3) Choose the correct speaker model. If used in a square, a bass speaker should be selected; if used indoors, a paper cone speaker should be selected and a good auxiliary speaker box should be selected. The high and low-frequency speakers can also be made into a speaker group to expand the frequency response range.
(4) When arranging the speakers, the sound should be evenly distributed and at a sufficient sound level. If a single (point) speaker cannot meet the needs, multiple points can be set up so that each listener can get almost the same sound loudness and improve the sound resolution; have a good sense of direction. The speakers should be installed more than 3 meters above the ground so that the listeners can "see" the speakers, and try to make the horizontal hearing (sound source) and vision (speaker) as consistent as possible, and the distance between the two speakers should not be too large.
(5) For electric horn speakers, the sound head must be put on the horn before use, otherwise it is easy to damage the sound head.
(6) When using more than two speakers together, pay attention to the phase problem. If they are in reverse phase, the sound will be significantly weakened. The simplest way to determine the phase of a speaker is to use a high-sensitivity meter or a multimeter with a current range of 50~250μA, connect the test meter to the speaker terminal, hold the paper cone with both hands, and push it hard. At this time, you can determine their phase from the swing direction of the meter needle. If the phase is the same, the meter needle swings in one direction. At this time, the voice coil lead connected to the positive test lead can be regarded as the "ten" level.
